How to make a crochet blanket in all sorts of colours!

This blanket has been a project for quite a while now.  I originally started it to use up all of the left over wool that I had acquired from making hats and other things.

I am pleased to say that I am almost at the end of making all of my squares and I am very excited to see it all come together.

This is where I have gotten up to with the squares so far. A few more to go and then I will be sewing in some ends and joining them all together! I am in LOVE with the colours in this blanket. Just in LOVE.

This is another view from last week when I was on holiday at my sisters....it was growing. It has grown even more in the last few days as I have been confined to the couch!

Would you like to know how to make one too??

So Im going to give you some instructions on how to firstly make your own squares. More on the joining later when I figure it out myself!!

Making your scrap blanket granny square

Chain 4. Slip stitch to form a ring.
Chain 2 (this makes your first double crochet stitch. Double crochet a further 11 into the ring. You should have 12 DC altogether into the ring. Slip stitch to join into your first DC stitch to finish your row. Cut and tie off and join your next colour to your chain space with a slip knot.

Chain 2. DC once more into the same chain 2 space. continue around making 2DC into every space. You should have 12 lots of 2DC into each space. Join with a slip stitch into your first DC to finish off the row. Cut and tie off and join your next colour to your chain space with a slip knot.

Chain 2. Make 2 more DC into the same chain 2 space. This will give you 3DC into that space altogether. Continue this pattern around into each chain space, so you will have 12 lots of 3DC into each space in the round. Slip stitch to join and cut and tie off and join your next colour to your chain space with a slip knot.

Chain 2. make 2 more DC into the same chain 2 space. This will give you 3DC into that space altogether. Chain 1. continue this pattern around into each chain space, making sure that you chain 1 in between each 3DC clusters. This will give you 12 lots of 3DC separated by a chain 1 in the round. Slip stitch to join and cut and tie off and join your next colour to your chain space with a slip knot. The colour you use for this round will make a square and it must be the colour that you will be using to join your squares.

Chain 2. make 2 more DC into the same chain 2 space. *This will make 3DC altogether. Chain 3. 3DC into the same space as the previous 3DC space. This makes your corner*. chain 1. 3DC into the next two chain spaces with a chain 1 inbetween. make your next corner (* to *). Chain 1. 3DC into the next two chain spaces with a chain 1 inbetween. Make your next corner (* to *). Repeat until you have made your fourth corner and slip stitch to join and cut and tie off.

Prepare for the next installment!

Let me know how you go with these instructions!!
